Rant about Kejriwal’s Odd Even Success

17 Jan

Delhi CM Kejriwal has imposed the odd even scheme on Delhi and has declared it as a success.  Does not matter that the said objective of reducing pollution is not conclusive.  Also, the premise of the scheme being the wrong medicine based on an IIT study is ignored.  The side effects of reduced traffic congestion is being applauded.  One of the major reasons for chest thumping is the “at-least doing something” argument.  So, every day in winter I propose to boil a small bowl of water.  This is small contribution to reducing pollution.  Remember increasing overall temperature would be a way to reduce pollution as per science.  So now, can you vote me as the next CM please for “at-least doing something please”.  I could definitely use the 400% hike in salary.

One thought that an IIT alumni would have a scientific temper – but then politics has this effect of leveling everybody to the lowest common denominator.

Kejriwal is the proof of “Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

IITans sue IIT for defamation

13 Jan

IITans – current and former students of IIT have decided to sue IIT and specifically the admissions committee for granting permission to the Mr.Kujriwal who is causing much embarrassment to all of them.  Further the irreparable damage to the reputation of the IITans and institution itself should be compensated by the admissions committee paying 10Cr.  Also they request the honorable court to issue an injunction to Mr.Kujriwal to either return (degree-wapsi) his degree to IIT or to refrain from ever appearing in front of media, specifically but  not limited to TV.  Also the court asks the people of Dehali is issue a public apology for voting drama company to power.

Kejriwal claims that Jaitley does not have any public reputation to protect!

Read more everywhere on the net – say here.

I thought that the way to fight a defamation case is to argue what one said is actually factual and hence if aggrieved person is defamed then he deserves as much.  The learned me have said the law is an ass – and it takes a Kejriwal to prove it!!!

Background:  Kejriwal’s principal secretary was raided by CBI due to corruption charges.  Our lovely Mr.K thought that the actual attack was on him/his office.  The fact that he is a anti-corruption crusader and he personally choose the said PS overriding all rules, precedent and corruption charges is an affront to himself.  Wait -as per Kejriwal – it was not actually on him – but rather to secure files regarding DDCA corruption that was being handled in his office.   How the argument changes from raid on him to a raid to obtain a specific file(s) so easily.  And so now topic changes from corruption by PS -> raid on Kejriwal -> raid on Kejriwal’s office -> DDCA files being illegally obtained -> Jaitley being corrupt.  Humph – even software engineers will not be able to read and such convoluted logic easily.  Going to IIT help’s I guess.

Unfair interviews

1 Jan

Sometime ago I interviewed for a big and well known MNC … I thought that the discussions went pretty well but after a few days got a callback but this time for a different group, that is, restart of the process 😦  .  After some days another call and same story.  “The last discussion went pretty well but unfortunately we could not hire you since we got an internal candidate.  It is our company policy to give priority to internal candidates.”

After a few such good interviews but bad experiences I asked the HR representative for a frank opinion about whether I had a fair shot at the job or was I making up for numbers ( do they have a target of ‘n’ interviewees per position) .   The answer was an expected ” we have fair hiring practices ” etc.  But I didn’t get anymore calls.

Why do people do such things?   Why force a candidate to take a day off to interview when you know beforehand that you are fulfilling some shortsighted HR policy.
